Creating and Configuring Production ROSA Clusters

Create and configure production-grade ROSA clusters as part of a larger AWS customer’s footprint.

Creating and Configuring Production ROSA Clusters (CS220) provides hands-on training in setting up and managing Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) within existing AWS environments. Learn how to seamlessly integrate ROSA with essential AWS services like Amazon CloudWatch, ensuring efficient monitoring and management for production workloads.

What You’ll Learn

Deploy ROSA STS PrivateLink clusters and integrate them with existing VPCs.

Enable secure access for administrators and developers.

Configure dedicated machine pools and autoscaling for nodes and pods.

Forward logs to Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring and auditing.

Set up authentication and group synchronization with Amazon Cognito

Recommended Training

CS120 – Introduction to Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS or equivalent experience: Ability to create and access a public ROSA cluster.

AWS Administration Skills at the level of AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, or equivalent experience managing AWS infrastructure.

Basic OpenShift Knowledge from DO080 Technical Overview: Understanding of OpenShift fundamentals and container concepts.

Private Red Hat OpenShift on AWS (ROSA) Clusters
Create a PrivateLink ROSA cluster with STS and enable developers or administrators to access the API and router endpoints of the cluster.
Node and Pod Autoscaling
Configure a ROSA cluster and a workload to dynamically scale the number of cluster nodes and application pods according to load.
Monitor ROSA Clusters with Amazon CloudWatch
Configure ROSA clusters to forward logs to Amazon CloudWatch for long-term storage, aggregation, and analysis, and to authenticate OpenShift users by using Amazon Cognito.

Impact on Your Organization

Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) is a fully managed OpenShift platform that runs natively on AWS, helping organizations streamline operations, accelerate innovation, and scale applications effortlessly.

ROSA is ideal for AWS-focused enterprises that need to integrate OpenShift with their existing AWS infrastructure while maintaining strong security, access controls, and network protections. It ensures operational consistency across on-premise and cloud environments, making it a powerful choice for security-conscious businesses.

Impact on the individual

After completing CS220, students can create private ROSA clusters which are integrated with AWS infrastructure services typically employed by IT operations teams and ready to start onboarding applications and developers.
