The Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS) certification validates expertise in securing containerized applications and Kubernetes platforms across build, deployment, and runtime. It’s a performance-based exam that tests real-world Kubernetes and cloud security skills. Candidates must first earn the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) credential. The CNCF has open-sourced the CKS curriculum to support exam preparation and training providers.

The CKS exam is a two-hour, online, proctored, performance-based test requiring candidates to complete real Kubernetes tasks via the command line. It requires a valid CKA certification and is valid for two years from the date of issue
